BASHOFU (banana fiber weaving) looks like a golden cloth when it holds up to the light. Only the royal family was allowed to wear it, and the costume is said to have been worn by the young prince. Cuffs and collar parts of cloths are not folded, they are showing off on purpose. This costume expresses the high quality of technique by weavers, which is unique to Ryukyu. According to the optics research, safflower was used for the red color.
